Once a white area this multi-racial, men and women's hairdressing salon stands here now.

A continuation of the religious ceremony on the beach, everyone washing away their sins presumably - or the sticky Durban humidity.

West Street - Dr. Pixley Kaseme Street, Durban

Looking up from the beachfront towards the university on the hill all the way down West Street. West street too has a new name - Dr. Pixley Kaseme Street. I've read up about who these new names belong to but the truth is I never knew who West and Smith were either.

Smith Street - Anton Lembede Street, Durban

Looking down Smith Street (which I think is now called Anton Lembede Street) from South Beach. In fact the photo was probably taken from Gillespie Street. We stayed in this area and I had a bedroom looking over Tyzack Street. Tyzack Street was a little lane which we called Piss Street because the late night revelers would duck down here for a pee.

Praying on Durban Beach

This is a religious ceremony of some kind on North Beach.

Problem Street!

That's right, what use to be Cowey Road is now renamed as Problem Street - Problem Mkhize was a South African trade unioinist who died in 2006.

Royal Hotel, Durban

This is a view of what was the best hotel in Durbs - the Royal Hotel, we use to enjoy a posh dinner here on birthdays.

Durban Beachfront

Again sorry I'm not sure where this is, it's somewhere on the beachfront, in the distance you can see the City Hall building.

To market, to market...

 This is opposite the Butterworth Hotel buildings beyond are the original old Station and the clock on the Post Office.
